INTERIM HOME CARE UTAH
Aid and Attendance Pay Chart: The Basics for Families

We've written a detailed explanation of Aid & Attendance eligibility elsewhere. This is the quick-reference chart version, for scanning at a glance.
2026 Monthly Rates (Effective December 1, 2025)
| Category | Benefit | Approximate Monthly Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Veteran with spouse/dependent | Aid & Attendance | ~$2,874 |
| Single veteran | Aid & Attendance | ~$2,424 |
| Surviving spouse | Aid & Attendance | ~$1,558 |
| Single veteran | Housebound (lower tier, can't combine with A&A) | ~$1,776 |
A Note on Using This Chart
These figures adjust annually with the VA's cost-of-living increase, and your actual payment depends on your income after deductible medical expenses — not everyone eligible receives the maximum rate shown here. Treat this as a reference point, not a guarantee, and check VA.gov's current pension rate table for the most up-to-date figures.
What These Categories Mean
- Aid & Attendance applies when someone needs hands-on help with daily activities like bathing or dressing.
- Housebound applies when someone is confined to home by a permanent disability, without necessarily needing hands-on personal care.
- You can qualify for one or the other, not both — VA pays the higher applicable rate.
